Top 10 Greatest Basketball Cards From The 90's

I just wanted to do my own version of a "TOP 10 GREATEST BASKETBALL CARDS OF THE 90'S". I was only focusing my attention on the 90's and 90's only cards. There would be too much going on if I were to dive into the earlier or later years than i did. Heck, the 90's had the best cards anyway. The 90’s had the coolest designs and ground breaking technology within the cards production. I factored in set popularity, first introductions and significance to the list.

I already know you won’t agree on all or most of my list, but these were some of the cards that made my Top 10 at the time of writing. WARNING- I miss searched and omitted a wide variety of cards that should have made the list. That kind of helps cause controversy and debate and we all like something to talk about. Also, there are more than 10 cards and its the SET, its the STORY and IMPACT and not the particular player that makes the card special. Its still in the rough draft stage and something i can learn and build from.

 In chronological order...

#15.
1992-93 Stadium Club Beam Team
 Odds- 1:36
Cards in set- 21
Design- 10/10
Notable Mention- Shaq's RC year. Never owned the 92 Beam Team cards.

The Beam Team insert was not a difficult card to pull. Buy a box of Series 2 and presto, you now have a Beam Team. Was it this set that started the trend of the 90's boom of popular inserts? i think so.  I rated the design 10/10 due to the fact this was a very early 90's insert, were most cards had very boring designs.

#14.
1993-94 Finest Refractors
 Odds- 1:9
Cards in set- 220
Design- 6/10
Notable Mention- Webbers RC year. Do not own the refactor version, but i do have 5 or so regular version. Not just all cardboard, but with plastic this time in every pack.

The refractors could have been pulled from regular pack and in jumbo packs. The world premier of Finest with Refractor technology. Thats a double mind explosion of goodness. Design wise very trippy themed. Its just a player behind rainbow blotches.

#13.
1994-95 Finest
 Odds- 1:1
Cards in set- 331
Design- 7/10
Notable Mention- Hills RC year. Use to have a BV of $100. Packs use to cost me $8 i believe. Have about 8 Hill Finest RC cards.

One of the more earlier popular sets that included subsets. Finest came in two series. The very first set that came with a protective film, that was suppose to protect the cards surface. Very interesting indeed, but i do remember the peel back firing all the time. People like to peel things and stick there finger into the cardboard and rip away, revealing white on white. Yes, you just damaged your card. The irony of the peel. The design isnt too bad. I like the grey borders and the color splash in the back.

#12.
1996-97 Finest Gold Rare
 Odds- 1:24
Cards in set- 331
Design- 9/10
Notable Mention- Kobes RC year. Everyone loves Finest mixed with Gold.

The Rare cards could be had in both series 1 and 2. My very first pack of 96 finest cost me a Whopping $5. i did manage to pull a Gold and the card store guy was shocked that i pulled the HIT of the box like that. It was Gary Payton. I held onto that card for around 15 years. Yes, i still have it. Out of place background with gold borders. Lovely design.

#11.
1996-97 Flair Showcase Legacy Collection Row 2
 Odds- 1:30
Cards in set- 90
Design- 10/10
Notable Mention- Never own any Legacy cards.

One of the First few sets to Produce such a low amount per card. Has 2 other version being Row 1 and Row 0. All have different pictures and designs. All Legacy cards are Number to 150. Design was spectacular with action photos along with portrait background.
